Logging a workout

The workout screen is designed around the few things needed between sets: what is planned, what happened previously, what needs changing, and how long remains before the next set. A set can be completed directly, edited through the quick input pad, or managed from the Lock Screen through a Live Activity.

Training insights

Understand progress and training balance.

Progress tracking

Follow each exercise over time using the measure that makes sense for it. Graph estimated 1RM, maximum or average weight, repetitions, total sets, or average RPE across a selected period.

Estimated 1RM methods can be chosen separately for individual exercises, and the app can compare different methods against recorded performance.

Volume by muscle group

See how completed training is distributed across the body using a muscle map and numerical breakdown.

Primary and secondary muscles are tracked separately, with fractional set contributions where an exercise trains several muscle groups. This makes compound movements count toward the muscles they involve without treating every contribution as a full set.

Private and free

No account, tracking, subscription, or paid tiers.

No account is required, and workout data is stored on the device rather than in a GymLog profile. The app does not include analytics, advertising identifiers, or data mining.

There is no subscription and no separation between free and paid training features.

On-device data

Workout history stays in the app's local storage and is not uploaded to a GymLog server.

No tracking

No analytics SDK, advertising identifier, or user profile.

No paid tiers

The full app is available without a subscription or feature unlocks.

A workout log should be a tool

I wanted a workout log that did not require an account, turn training history into a service, or reserve basic analysis for a paid tier. When I could not find one that suited me closely enough, I built it.

The result is the app I still use for every workout: private, practical, and designed around recording and understanding training rather than monetising it.

Open beta

Try it with your own training.

I use Gym Log for every workout, but my program only covers a small part of how people train. The open beta is intended to uncover awkward workflows, missing cases, and problems I would not encounter on my own.
