Roadmap

Gym Log is continuously improving. This roadmap describes the general direction of the project rather than a fixed feature schedule. Priorities may change based on feedback, how people use the app, and what works well in practice.

In TestFlight

Development continues through TestFlight, where new features and larger changes can be tried before they reach the App Store version.

Currently being tested:

Body metrics

Log and track body weight, body composition, body measurements, and other physical metrics alongside training history.

Apple Health integration

Sync supported body metrics with Apple Health, making it easier to keep measurements consistent across apps and devices.

If you want access to new features as soon as they are available, you can join the TestFlight beta. Features in TestFlight are still being tested and may change before their public release.

Later: Continued development

I plan to continue maintaining and improving Gym Log based on my own use of the app and feedback from other users.

Gym Log is an independent project developed by one person, so new features need to remain manageable and consistent with the app's overall purpose. Priorities may change over time, but the next major area I plan to focus on after body metrics and Apple Health integration is training programs.

Training programs and automatic progression

I would like Gym Log to support structured training programs that can guide a workout over multiple weeks rather than only record individual sessions and templates.

A core part of this will be automatic progression. Programs should be able to adjust prescribed weight, repetitions, sets, or effort over time based on the progression method being used, while still allowing the user to review and change what is planned.

The goal is to support a range of strength and hypertrophy programming styles without making the normal workout logging experience more complicated.

Mac and Apple Watch support

The optional iCloud Sync and Backup feature introduced in Gym Log 2.0 provides a foundation for expanding Gym Log beyond iPhone.

Mac and Apple Watch support remain areas I would like to explore, particularly where they can make reviewing training or logging workouts more convenient.

Recovery tracking

I would also like to explore a simple way to record self-reported readiness and view it alongside training progress.

The initial focus would be on personal check-ins rather than automatically calculating recovery from sleep, heart rate, or other health metrics. Depending on how useful this proves to be, recovery tracking may be expanded over time.
