Common questions.
Short answers for beta testers and people deciding whether Gym Log fits their training.
Is Gym Log free?
Yes. Gym Log is free during beta and will remain free on release.
What devices does Gym Log support?
Gym Log is available for iPhone and currently requires iOS 26.1 or later. There is no iPad, Mac, Android, or Apple Watch version yet.
Does Gym Log include workout programs?
No. Gym Log is for logging and planning your own training. It does not include built-in programs, coaching, exercise tutorials, or exercise videos.
Does Gym Log work offline?
Yes. Workout planning, logging, and progress tracking work offline. Gym Log does not require a Gym Log account or an internet connection for normal use. If you enable iCloud Sync and Backup, changes synchronize when iCloud and a network connection are available.
Where is my workout data stored?
Workout data is stored locally on your iPhone using Apple's Core Data. If you enable iCloud Sync and Backup, the data needed for that feature is also stored through iCloud under your Apple Account. Gym Log does not use a Gym Log account or its own cloud storage service.
Does Gym Log sync between devices?
Yes. iCloud Sync and Backup is an optional feature that is recommended during onboarding to help protect against data loss. When enabled, Gym Log keeps training data up to date on supported devices signed in to the same Apple Account and maintains backups for recovery. The app continues to use local storage and remains usable offline.
What does iCloud Sync and Backup do?
It keeps the working copy of your data up to date between supported devices and maintains backups intended for recovery. Synchronization and backup are enabled and disabled together as one feature.
The feature is optional, but Gym Log recommends enabling it during onboarding because it helps reduce the risk of losing workout data.
What happens if I delete Gym Log?
Deleting Gym Log removes the workout data stored locally by the app on that iPhone. Offloading the app through iOS is different: iOS removes the app itself while retaining its documents and data.
Deleting the app does not necessarily delete data stored by iCloud Sync and Backup. Before deleting Gym Log, confirm that you have a current Gym Log backup if you may want to restore the data later. Use Gym Log's data controls and your Apple device or iCloud settings to manage data stored in iCloud.
What happens when I replace or restore my iPhone?
If iCloud Sync and Backup was enabled, install Gym Log on the supported replacement device, sign in to the same Apple Account, and enable the feature. Your data can synchronize when iCloud and a network connection are available.
You can also restore a Gym Log backup or rely on Apple's device backup and migration systems, provided the relevant backup contains Gym Log's app data.
Can I back up and restore my data?
Yes. Gym Log includes dedicated backup and restore functionality for protecting and recovering your complete data.
Markdown exports remain available for workout templates and completed workouts when you want a readable copy, but they are not restorable backups.
What is included in a Gym Log backup?
A full backup contains the information needed to restore your Gym Log data. Backups are intended for recovery rather than for reading or editing manually.
Restoring a backup may replace data already stored in Gym Log rather than merging two databases. Review the confirmation shown by the app before continuing.
Will updates preserve my data?
Normal Gym Log updates preserve your existing data. Data from the TestFlight version will also carry over to the App Store release.
Gym Log is currently in beta, however, and beta software may include breaking changes or unforeseen data-migration problems. While preserving existing data is always the intention, it cannot be guaranteed throughout the beta.
Why do the screenshots say they may be outdated?
The app is in open beta, so the interface can change quickly while feedback is being addressed. The screenshots are useful placeholders, not a promise that every build looks exactly the same.
How do I join the beta?
Gym Log is looking for beta testers who train from their own programs and can give practical feedback on logging speed, planning, timers, and progress tracking. You will need Apple's TestFlight app to install the beta build.
