Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 17, 2026

Summary

This Privacy Policy applies to the Gym Log app and website. Gym Log does not require a Gym Log account, and workout data is not stored in a cloud service operated by the developer. Workout data is stored locally on your device. If you choose iCloud, Gym Log transfers your data to Apple's iCloud service under your Apple Account, including automatic backups stored in iCloud Drive. If you connect Apple Health, Gym Log exchanges the workout and measurement data you allow with the Health app on your device.

Workout data is NOT USED for analytics, advertising, data mining, or marketing. Information is received directly by the developer only when you choose to contact support or provide feedback.

What Data Is Stored Or Collected?

Gym Log stores the information you choose to enter, including workout plans, completed training, exercises, set results, notes, measurements, and related app settings. This information is stored locally on your device unless you choose iCloud or connect Apple Health.

If you choose iCloud, the app transfers your data to Apple's iCloud service under your Apple Account, including automatic backups stored in iCloud Drive. Workout data is not stored in a cloud service operated by the developer.

If you send an email, the following data may be collected:

  • your email address;
  • the content of your email.

The content of the email is your responsibility. You are advised not to include personal or sensitive information unless it is necessary for your message.

How App Data Is Used

Workout and app data is used only to provide features you request, including:

  • planning, recording, and reviewing training;
  • calculating progress and analytics inside the app;
  • creating and restoring backups in iCloud Drive when you choose iCloud;
  • saving workouts and supported measurements to Apple Health, and showing supported measurements from Apple Health, when you connect Apple Health.

Gym Log does not use workout data for advertising, marketing, user profiling, or behavioural analytics.

Apple Health

Apple Health integration is optional and is off until you choose to connect it in the app. iOS asks which data types Gym Log may access, and you can change or withdraw that permission at any time in your iPhone's Health settings.

When connected, Gym Log may:

  • save workouts you start in Gym Log as strength training workouts with their start and end times;
  • save and read body weight, height, body fat percentage, lean body mass, and waist circumference;
  • edit or delete entries in Apple Health that Gym Log created, for example when you change or delete them in Gym Log.

Data read from Apple Health is used only to show it in Gym Log and, if you choose, to include it in an export you create. It is not copied into Gym Log's own data or Gym Log backups. Apple Health data is never sent to the developer or any other third party, and it is not used for advertising, marketing, data mining, or analytics.

Data that Gym Log saves to Apple Health is stored by the Health app and remains there if you delete Gym Log. You can review or delete it in the Health app.

How Email Data Is Used

Emails are used only to:

  • read and understand your message;
  • reply to your message if a response is appropriate.

Your information will be deleted upon request, or three months after the conversation becomes inactive, whichever comes first.

How Email Data Is Stored

Email communication is stored in iCloud email, protected with encryption and two-factor authentication. Email communication may also be stored locally on an encrypted device protected by strong authentication measures.

Email communication is retained only as long as necessary to read and respond to your message. If there has been no activity for three months, the email communication will be deleted.

Website Hosting

The Gym Log website is hosted using GitHub Pages. GitHub may process technical request information, such as an IP address and browser details, as necessary to deliver and protect the website. The website uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to collect aggregate page-view while preserving visitors' privacy.

GitHub's handling of this technical information is described in the GitHub General Privacy Statement.

App Data And Apple Services

Gym Log uses local Core Data storage on your device. iCloud storage is an optional setting you choose when you first set up Gym Log. It uses the Apple Account and iCloud service configured on your device; it does not create a Gym Log account. The option is recommended during setup as a data-protection measure because it helps reduce the risk of losing workout data. Availability depends on your iCloud account, network connection, device settings, and available iCloud storage.

When chosen, Gym Log saves automatic backups to iCloud Drive for recovery. Depending on your iPhone and iCloud settings, local app data may also be included in device backups managed by Apple.

Data stored through iCloud is processed by Apple under Apple's terms and privacy practices. You can learn more in Apple's Privacy Policy.

During TestFlight beta testing, Apple may provide app-level beta information such as public link metrics, tester feedback, screenshots, and crash reports through App Store Connect. That information is handled through Apple's TestFlight and App Store Connect systems.

Marketing

Your personal data is not used for marketing purposes. You will not receive marketing materials unless you explicitly request them.

Your Data Protection Rights

Under GDPR, you have the following rights:

  • the right to access;
  • the right to rectification;
  • the right to erasure;
  • the right to restrict processing;
  • the right to object to processing;
  • the right to data portability.

Workout data stored locally or in iCloud can be managed using Gym Log's data controls and your Apple device or iCloud settings. Deleting the app removes its local data but may not automatically remove data stored in iCloud.

For email correspondence, you can request deletion by replying to the conversation and asking for it to stop and be deleted. You can also contact contact@gymlog.info with privacy questions or for guidance about managing Gym Log data.

The website may contain links to external websites or services. These external websites and services are governed by their own privacy policies, and Gym Log has no control over their content or privacy practices. You are encouraged to review the privacy policy of every website you visit.
